Our Pick for Free Thing to Do in Tampa on Friday
The Friday Extra Concert Series in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is a weekly occurrence through April. The Park is a beautiful spot and the scene of many of Tampa’s best events. The Cadillac Bombers are featured this Friday from 7-9PM, doing a there updated and unique version of rockabilly-punk that’s fast, fun and entertaining. Bring a blanket and enjoy the music and atmosphere at the Park.
Curtis Hixon Park is located on Ashley Blvd in downtown Tampa, right beside the Glaser Childrens Museum and Tampa Museum of Art and across the Hillsborough River from the University of Tampa.
Saturday is Beach Day in Tampa Bay
Some might argue that going to the beach EVERY Saturday is part of Tampa Florida attractions because we have such fantastic weather most of the year. This Saturday though, you should try Fort Desoto Park in St. Petersburg.
Clearwater Beach certainly has the reputation for fun in the sun, but Fort Desoto gives you more of a family-oriented vibe and gets listed in the top beaches in America year after year. The best part of Fort Desoto beach is the variety of landscape and activities available.

Free Sunday Things to Do – Back to the Park
Every Sunday evening you have the chance to finish your weekend by adding a little exercise and a little peace with Yoga in Curtis Hixon Park. By Sunday the rockabilly atmosphere has dissipated and the weekend is winding down, making room for more serene pursuits.
The people from Yoga Downtown Tampa on Cass St teach for free every Sunday from 6-7PM. Bring a bottle of water and a $5 donation (optional of course) and enjoy the setting sun, the view of UT across the river and some quality Yoga instruction. Can you think of a better way to end your weekend?
There IS Something to Do Monday
If you’ve never seen a TED video on YouTube, you may not quite get it, but TedX Tampa Bay provides the same inspirational ideas on a more local level. Here’s a TED Talk to give you an idea why it’s worth attending TedX:
While TED talks are designed to inspire and motivate adults, it’s a great education and fun for the little ones too!
If you do have an extra $5 per person in your pocket, you should head for USF Botanical Gardens. From 9-4 this Saturday they’ll be open for you to explore native plants and visit vendor booths where you can find some to take home.
Enjoy the weekend of Tampa Florida Attractions!
