Cruising down the freeway in an open-top car, the sun beating down … I can just picture it! Miami is a great destination for a quick 4-hour road trip from the Tampa area.
For a super-glitzy city break, in my opinion, Miami is the place to go. Not only do I have Will Smith’s famous song buzzing around my head, but on closer look, the city is packed with museums and galleries to explore, wonderful art-deco architecture and my favourite things in the world – shops!
Long-haul flying can be tiring and expensive, but airport extras make any trip less stressful, and I find staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Manchester Airport really useful when flying long distances. Not only do I feel much more refreshed and ready to go, but it saves me money too – which is something I like very much!
Miami is a 9 hour flight from the UK, but oh-so worth it. If you can, I would recommend hiring a car. Not only does this give much more independence, but the bus service around the city isn’t the greatest.
I don’t think any trip to Miami would be complete without a trip to the beach, and talk about spoilt for choice! The beaches are clean and wide, with soft sand and sparkling blue sea, in the bright Miami sunshine. I wish I was there now! Perfect for surfers, or those that just like to look at surfers, head to South Beach and see who you can spot.
It’s not all about beaches; the city boasts many bars and restaurants with fantastic cuisine, from fast food to the more exotic. The Little Havana district is a fun place to visit, with its Latin vibe, and quaint, colourful shops to explore. I love traditional shops, I could spend hours in them, and you’ll find plenty of choice for gifts. For big-name brands, Aventura Mall is the place go – this is where those pennies saved with pre-booking airport extras will come in handy. Booking Manchester Airport parking in advance will give you the opportunity to spend guilt-free, and that my friends, is a wonderful thing.
My absolute must-do trip is to book an air boat ride on the Everglades. It would be a crime not to, and I’d certainly recommend it. You may not see an alligator, but the nature around the area is sublime, and although you may come off the boat a little windswept, you certainly won’t regret it.
Back in Miami, and when night-time arrives, the colourful city lights up the sky. Whatever your choice of entertainment, you’re catered for. I’d recommend heading down to South Beach for a meal. There are many clubs, bars and restaurants to relax or party away your time – the choice is yours!
I think Miami is a city that begs to be explored, with its many districts offering something for everyone. Save money with airport extras, such as great value Manchester Airport hotels, and a visit to this artistic and colourful city is even more fun.
As Will Smith would say – Welcome to Miami
This is a guest post.
