Tampa Bay Concert & Show Venues
Whether you’re looking to entertain the kids in the evenings or splurge for you and your significant other to see a show while you’re running through your list of Tampa Florida attractions, the Tampa Bay area has the performance for you.
St. Pete Times Forum
The Forum isn’t just the home of our own Tampa Bay Lightning, and no, the irony of sunny Tampa having a championship NHL team is not lost on us! A side benefit to attending a show at the St. Pete Times Forum is that it’s right in downtown Tampa, next to Channelside Bay Plaza, so lots to do before and after the show.
Some highlights this summer:
- It’s STORM season in Tampa in more than one way. If you haven’t seen Arena Football you are in for a real treat. 9 players per side on a field the size of a hockey rink makes every play worthy of the highlight real. Games are scheduled between July and October.
- Josh Gorban is coming October 28th
- Taylor Swift Concert November 12th
- Andrea Bocelli December 4th
The Forum is constantly hosting concerts and other events so you’ll need to check the schedule during your visit.
The STRAZ Center – Formerly Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (TBPAC)
The Straz Center is in a great location to be the anchor for your evening out, close to the new Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa’s new River Walk and some great restaurants right across the street. It also has the big advantage during rainy season of a covered garage and walkway; just follow the signs to parking for the Tampa Public Library Building.
Straz is divided up into several theaters so there’s usually more than one performance going on. Most recently showing a wide variety of choices:
- The Miles Davis Experience
- Kings of Salsa
- Brian Regan Live in Concert
- Deepak Chopra
- Larry King Live

1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheater
In spite of its terrible name, the 1-800-ASK-GARY amphitheater is a great venue. Formerly the Ford Amphitheater, the facility is adjacent to the Florida State Fairgrounds located just West of Tampa and about a 30 minute drive from Clearwater Beach or an hour from the Disney World properties near Orlando. The 1-800-ASK-GARY amphitheater is an outdoor, covered facility that’s very unique looking and has great acoustics. If you’re feeling like a more casual night out, this is the spot, you can even bring a blanket for seating in the park-like “nose bleed” seats.
The Amphitheater is our largest Tampa concert venue, so you’ll frequently find the big name entertainers performing here. Here’s what’s coming up:
- Lil Wayne
- Godsmack and MegaDeath
- Rascal Flatts
- Maroon 5 and Train
- Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger
Ruth Eckerd Hall
Ruth Eckerd Hall is the Grande Dame of Tampa Bay’s performing arts community as one of the first concert halls in the area. Now, it provides an eclectic, intimate experience where you can often get great seats for surprisingly good local performances as well as interact with nationally known comics and performing troupes.
Here are just a few events coming up to give you an idea of what happens at Ruth Eckerd Hall:
- Rebel Without a Cause and On the Waterfront – in all their black and white glory
- Jim Gaffigan
- Selena Gomez
- South Pacific
- Taylor’s Irish Cabaret
