Grand Prix, Rock and Roll, Mary J Blige and Bill Clinton – All Things to do This Week in Tampa
Even WE have to admit that this is a pretty diverse week of fun things to do this weekend in Tampa Bay! After all, how often do The Boss, The President, and The Big Race sign up to be Tampa Florida Attractions in one weekend?

Now that all the Irishness is through, the Hillsborough River is no longer Kelly green, there are no sharmrocks to be found and the only place you get find Irish Dancing is on the discovery channel, Tampa Bay still offers up some amazing things to do!

St. Petersburg Grand Prix or the Honda Grand Prix of St. Peterburg is an annual race that carves out a1.8 mile track from the streets of downtown St. Pete every year. While the festivities will play havock with traffic, the race will be worth it. March 23-25th will see even higher speeds than usual down Bay Shore Dr. NE and 1st St SE and the raceway will claim that entire part of town.

There’s a Festival of State Parade that helps kick off the big Race Weekend on Thursday night, but the real action starts on Friday with a series of practices and qualifiers. There are some great races on Saturday, then the main event on Sunday the 25th. The good news is that as little as $20 gets you in to get a taste of the Grand Prix action.

Not a race fan but still crave a little speed? You could spend the whole weekend at the St. Pete Times Forum enjoying the action when the Tampa Bay Lightning take the ice starting on Monday night against the Sabres, then playing the Oilers on Thursday and the New York Islanders on Saturday night.

Friday the 23rd the Lightning makes way for The Boss for one evening of his always popular music. Bruce Springsteen seems to have nine lives in the entertainment world. Even after being in the business for more than 20 years he manages to make the cover of Rolling Stone and be the keynote at the South X Southwest Festival in Austin. Take advantage of his one night stay in Tampa and put The Boss on your list of things to do this weekend.

The Straz Center in Tampa, which is adjacent to the Tampa Art Museum and the Tampa Library is hosting what might be the most diverse set of Tampa attractions to take place in one week in the same building:

Lord of the Dance by Michael Flatley is on March 18th. Michael Flatley was the original Lord of the Dance and did much to popularize Irish Dancing in the United States.

The former President of the United States will be speaking on Embracing our Common Humanity on the 21st. Mr. Clinton has been busy with the William J. Clinton Foundation which is a non-profit group dedicated to a wide variety of worth endeavors. It’s a rare opportunity to see history in person, so don’t miss it.

The Joffrey Ballet performs on Sunday March 24th. You’ll see “Night”, “In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated” and “Age of Innocence”.
